Print this. 90 minutes, 11:00 to 12:30, Relief Society room, 5200 S. University Ave.
Before
- 10:30 — Scott and one mentor set the room: pods of tables, one for each mentor, 3 chairs each. Screen on. Loaner laptops out and charged. Wi-Fi password on the board.
- 10:45 — Mentors arrive. Five minutes on the roster: open each of your students. Scott walks the mentors through today's topic and what the work block is for.
- 10:55 — Students arrive. Direct each to their pod by name. New student? Scott assigns a pod on the spot.
The 90 minutes
- 11:00 — Prayer. One sentence on the week. (Scott)
- 11:05 — Topic. One thing, one handout, one demo on the screen. Ends with: "In the work block today you will…" (Scott · 25 minutes, hard stop)
- 11:30 — Return and report in pods. Jobs, money, last week's goal. (Mentors · 10 minutes)
- 11:40 — Work block. Every student on their own screen in the portal. Mentors float within their pod. Scott floats the room and takes hard cases. (Everyone · 45 minutes)
- 12:25 — Commit. One thing each, said to the pod, written by the mentor. Prayer. (Mentors, then Scott)
- 12:30 — Done.
The 25-minute stop is real. The work block is the class. If the topic runs long, the pods lose the hour, and the hour is where the businesses get built.
What to print each week
- This page (one per mentor)
- Today's guide (one per student who wants paper; it's also on their phone at `/guides`)
- Week 1 only: the participant agreement (one per student, signed and kept)
Who does what
- Scott — the topic, the room, hard cases, the roster, the passcode.
- Mentors — their pod: return and report, the hour, the commitments, a midweek text.
- The portal — the interview, the plan, the revisions, this week's guide.
If something breaks
- Wi-Fi down — the portal works on phone data. Loaners can hotspot from Scott's phone.
- A student's link doesn't work — open their row on the roster; copy or email the link.
- The interviewer says "come back tomorrow" — that student hit the daily limit. It resets at midnight. Work from the printed plan.
- Someone needs something no one here can give — legal, tax, immigration, a crisis — Scott. Not a mentor.
